As part of our drive to ‘future-proof’ our products, ASML aims to comply with legislation on hazardous materials and substances. Within Development & Engineering (D&E) Safety & Compliance, we facilitate & ensure that ASML is developing products that comply to regulations and customer requirements. To achieve this goal, the Hazardous Materials and Substances Competence group defines design/safety requirements and verifies compliance.
As an EHS Expert you will help define standards and processes as part of the Occupational Health management system. Based on data analysis and sector needs you will set the right targets with stakeholders and drive improvement programs in collaboration with experts in the sectors.

Role and responsibilities

Your mission as our Industrial Hygienist/Occupational Health Expert is to define standards and processes as part of the Occupational Health management system (eg CMR substances). You will help to create insight in where hazardous materials are used in our current designs and production processes, and actively distribute actions towards projects, designers and suppliers to ideally phase these out .
You will report and discuss with senior management the progress and effectiveness we are making in this area. Therefore a project-based way of working, understanding of business processes and business acumen is needed.
  • Closely follow the evolving material legislations (REACH, changing exposure limits) and assess its impact on ASML and create an execution plan, together with the Material & substances competence.
  • Continuously improve the material business rules and their embedding in ASML’s processes and applicable IT tools.
  • Inventory of current way of working, industry best practices and stakeholder expectations
  • Identify gaps towards ISO45001 compliant Occupational Health Management System and best in class benchmarks.
  • Networking within ASML and peers in other industries on legislation and implementation.
  • Collect and analyze relevant data from information systems to define priorities for improvement
  • Contribute to cross sector improvement programs
  • Help to embed the occupational health management processes in the EHS Information system
  • Connect with internal stakeholders on Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene

Education and experience

  • Bachelor or master degree in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health Sciences
  • More than 3 years working experience as occupational health expert in the industry:
  • Experience with the preparation and roll-out of occupational health management system in the industry
  • Demonstrable experience with the wide range of occupational health topics such as occupation health monitoring of physical and chemical exposures.
