The world of application hosting is in a state of flux. Where we used to host single applications on hardware servers, today it is virtual where multiple applications can be hosted on a single piece of hardware. Things have also changed within virtualization. In the past we often hosted virtualization on-premises, but now there is a shift to Cloud Providers (AWS, Azure, etc.). For some time now there has been a new method of hosting applications: packaging, installing and running, based on containers.

Working at NTT

The use of containers provides a similar standardization. The idea is that you divide an application into components with only one function or active process. For example, you can divide a WordPress application into a web server, a PHP engine, and a database server. Each of these functions comes to run in one container. Each container contains everything needed to run that function, so for example, a Linux base image, some libraries and the package (e.g. NginX for the web server)

The assignment is related to F5 NGINX with the goal of creating a working web environment based on Kubernetes/ Docker where NGINX plays a central role as web server but also as traffic controller.

• Analytical way of thinking
• Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Knowledge of Application Delivery (NGINX)
• Knowledge of Web Application Firewall
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker / Kubernetes)
• Proactive and independent attitude
• Good knowledge of Dutch, and English language (both verbal and written)
