The Space & Systems Engineering expert group develops and supplies optomechatronic instruments and systems for aerospace, ground-based astronomy and scientific research. The demands placed on these systems are generally challenging the limits of technology. Creating such instruments therefore calls for a thorough project organisation, in which experts in the fields of optics, mechatronics, electronics, software, manufacturing and testing work together in a multidisciplinary setting to achieve the desired result.

What will be your role?

The management and realisation of these complex projects is the core-expertise of the SSE department. This encompasses the System Engineering, which generally also includes the set-up and maintenance of the instrument performance models.

Specifically, the Performance Engineer
  • Develops models to verify the performance requirements of the instrument.
  • Supports the systems engineer in the downflow of requirements towards subsystems based on the performance model.
  • Will be responsible for monitoring the performance of the instrument throughput the project.
